Dog-Friendly Stay at Ardeonaig Hotel
If you’re dreaming of a peaceful retreat in the Scottish Highlands with your four-legged friend, Ardeonaig Hotel is a hidden gem. Nestled on the tranquil shores of Loch Tay and surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes, this boutique hotel offers a perfect mix of comfort and luxury, with a dog-friendly atmosphere.
Ardeonaig Hotel Lodges
You can book into one of our lovely Lodges, in which up to two dogs are welcome to share with you. They are spacious and open directly to the outdoors, so your dog can enjoy the pure Highland air and quick access to the surrounding greenery.
They are fully fitted with all the modern amenities you could hope for, including full cooking facilities so you can be fully self-sufficient if you want. The towns of Killin or Kenmore are a short drive along the shores of Loch Tay and have supermarkets for supplies. This all adds up to an experience that ensures that your pet is as comfortable as you are.
Our downstairs bar, which opens onto the beautiful seated riverside lawn is also dog-friendly, so you can enjoy drinks there with your furry friends. You can also enjoy our scrumptious food there too, for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
For those that don’t share your love for doggies there are still plenty of areas at Ardeonaig Hotel that are dog-free; the rooms in the hotel itself, the upstairs bar, lobby and restaurant are all dog-free zones. This all gives a best of both worlds experience for guests, so you will never feel like you are inconveniencing others.
Local Dog Walks
The hotel’s prime location by Loch Tay offers endless opportunities for scenic walks with your dog. Start your adventure right outside the hotel in our beautiful grounds, which extend right down to the lochside, where the calm waters and panoramic views of the mountains provide a soothing atmosphere.
There are also some lovely walks surrounding Ardeonaig hotel, with many more a short drive away. For more energetic dogs (and owners), nearby Ben Lawers is a fantastic option. It’s the highest mountain in the area, and while it might be challenging for less experienced hikers, its trails offer a range of options suitable for different fitness levels. Whether you’re taking a casual hike or aiming for the awe-inspiring summit, your dog will love the fresh air and the chance to explore the rugged terrain. Another essential place to visit is the Falls of Dochart in nearby Killin, a scenic set of rapids that roll through the heart of the village. Your dog will love watching the water rush by, and it’s a fantastic spot for a holiday-defining photo opportunity with your canine companion.
Tips for a Stay at Ardeonaig Hotel with Your Dog
Please book in advance: Since not all accommodation at Ardeonaig is dog-friendly, it’s essential to let the hotel know you’re bringing your dog when booking.
Bring essentials: While the hotel provides basic amenities for dogs, it’s always a good idea to bring your pet’s favourite toy, blanket, and of course any special dietary needs.
Check local restrictions: While many areas are dog-friendly, be mindful of any local guidelines, especially when hiking in areas where wildlife is present. Keep your dog on a lead if necessary to ensure their safety.
